As the daughter of a small business owner, Lisa Hounshell dreamed of owning her own business from a young age. While she dabbled in interior design, her true calling was hair. She worked and taught in salons for several years, learning the ropes of the salon industry—even working with hair shows.
Once she was introduced to Aveda, she knew it was time to move forward with her dreams of owning her own salon. Not only did she fall in love with the products, but the company’s passion for environmentally-friendly, naturally-derived products matched her own. Then, in 1992 when Lisa was just 28, she opened Elements of Design Salon & Spa, a five-chair boutique salon.
